iTunes = arXiv


Talk about glaring example of needs not being met by traditional stuff, so users roll their own...

I had heard about this before, but this really makes me think about what we are doing with INSPIRE. Users want ways to organize papers, just like browser users want ways of organizing bookmarks. Del.icio.us does this for bookmarks in a shared way, using iTunes loses the shared aspect. Thinks like CiteUlike, and Zotero are out there, but don't have high visibility. iTunes is a hack that only a few folks will use. There is room for INSPIRE, with large user community to provide such a service
